Paramount currently owns the distribution rights to the project and planned a theatrical release later this year, but if the deal goes through, Amazon is expected to drop the movie directly to its Amazon Prime video service. The company, which relocated to Amazon, will also feature the new film in addition to the Jack Ryan series, starring John Krasinski, and is based on the Clancy property. According to Variety, Paramount is in final talks to sign a window remix Amazon deal and sell the movie worldwide rights. The film industry is turning to big intellectual property-driven blockbusters and franchises in this millennium, so Paramount has struggled to keep up. It has a handful of franchises – Transformers and Mission: Impossible Standouts – but the fact that they are willing to sell without the reminder signal is that they are not confident that it could be one of their top tier features year after year. Without References (2020) is an American action, thriller, crime, war drama film directed by Stefano Solima and written by Taylor Sheridan. It is based on Tom Clancy’s 1993 novel of the same name. The film stars Michael B. Jordan.

Directed by Stefano Solima (Sicario: The Soldador’s Day) without references, written by Taylor Sheridan and Akiva Goldsman, and starring Michael B. Jordan as John Clark, who first appeared in Seal-turned-CIA-Operative Clanny’s novels (17 in total). Later appeared in multiple movies. The character was first portrayed by Willem Daffo in Clear and Present Danger and later by Lev Schreiber in The Summer of All Fair. These films originally centered on Jack Ryan, but this new film will tell his original story, after his search for revenge after his girlfriend was killed by a Baltimore drug.

The film stars co-star Jamie Bell (Fantastic Four), CBA operations director Robert Ritter, who hired Kelly to the organization, and Jody Turner-Smith (Quinn and Slim), a potential love interest for the German character. Karen is a new character, but has played the role of Admiral Gray in The Wear’s Wendell Pierce Jack Ryan series, so she’s probably playing her daughter in the film. And again, the Amazon connection could theoretically open the door to a shared universe, overlapping movie characters and shows.

Jordan already has a relationship with Amazon, since his Outlier Society production company has a TV deal there for the first shows. And they also have a relationship with Salima, co-produced and managed by last year’s Drug Druger series Xerozero.
